LifeTraks, Inc. has worked in
15 different countries with Compaq, Ericsson, Sprint, Hitachi,
Novel, and others. We provide an approach to solving business
challenges that is fundamentally different from other consulting
firms. Our experience and expertise in Knowledge Management (KM)
is especially unique.
Today, it is critical that organizations
learn to manage and utilize knowledge effectively. Organizations
which do this effectively are sometimes referred to as Knowledge
Organizations (KO). However,
transitioning to a KO is a tremendously challenging task. We have
seen far too many organizations that have given up, accepting
results far below what they had expected and anticipated. Others
don't even realize how much their overall results are being hampered
by their inefficient management of knowledge.
The key to a successful transition
is a management structure that supports the principles and processes
of a KO. However, not only is today's management approach NOT
consistent with the transitioning to a true KO, it is fundamentally
in CONFLICT with that objective. Until this conflict is resolved,
the organization is nearly powerless to take full advantage of
their tools, and the intelligence, talent, and experience of their
people.
For knowledge to be worthwhile,
an organization must have processes and values that:
Resourcefully Create
Knowledge Through Learning And Acquisition
Efficiently Capture Knowledge
From Inside and Outside the Organization To Make It Usable
Effectively Organize
and Structure Knowledge to Make It Findable
Enthusiastically Share
Knowledge Inside and Outside the Organization to Make It Accessible
Intelligently Apply Knowledge
to Business Challenges to Make It Valuable
At LifeTraks, we specialize in
turning traditional organizations into Knowledge Organizations.
Our focus is supporting an organization's leaders in guiding the
organization through this difficult transition. One of the keys
to our success is our management training, which transitions the
management team to our "Manager as Coach" methodology.
The work we do is unique, as is our approach. We often have a
difficult time explaining our approach to potential clients. This
is primarily because our approach is so different from what they
have experienced with other "consultants." This
is because those consulting firms are stuck in the same mold and
model their clients use. They understand the value of becoming
a KO, but do not fully understand the process of how to initiate
and manage the changes required.
Most consultants, by the nature
of the work they do, focus on a few areas of expertise. This can
be helpful, but fails to recognize that an organization is an
organic system. Every facet of the system interacts with and influences
all others. LifeTraks works with the fundamental nature of the
organization itself. Thus, our work ultimately impacts every segment
of the organization.
